Virginia Mountain Bike Festival
to benefit Richmond MORE / RVA Ride Center

The 2015 Virginia Mountain Bike festival presented by Shenandoah Mountain Touring is going to be a superbly long and exciting weekend bicycling, hanging out and learning more about Richmond MORE and their 2015 World Championship legacy project - the RVA Ride Center. We are really excited to showcase this project and share with you all that is and has been happening in Richmond, Virginia.  Looking forward to seeing you at the Stokesville Campground over Memorial Day weekend.

Once you arrive at the Campground grab one of the amazing camp spots and then please make your way over to the pavilion to get checked in and confirm your volunteer position. It is tons of fun helping with dinner/breakfast prepping, cooking and serving and this really facilitates everyone getting to know each other.  You will also be able to check out all the rides that will be leaving throughout the weekend. We will also have some other trail maps of the area for you to take as you may wish to create your own adventure.

Just a few quick items before you arrive for the weekend:

  • Bathhouses will be OPEN for business this year! Full bathroom facility with inside and outside showers. Look for shower arrows once you arrive on the grounds.

  • It won’t just be the leaves that are green at the campground this year! We are trying to minimized our waste at the festival and increase our recycling! Please bring your own plates, utensils and beverage cups to pitch in. We will have recycling trash cans around the pavilion for everyone to recycle their bottles.

  • The weather could be great for a evening on the water! So bring your swimming suit and take a dip in the North River which is located under the iron bridge at the entrance to the campground. Don’t forget that sunscreen! Please park in the field near the church and not along the road near the entrance.

  • Some bug spray would be a good idea.

  • Please watch out for poison ivy around the campsites.  Ain’t nobody got time for that!

  • Please do not climb on shade/sand box structure. It is not a campground feature designed to be played on. It is designed to be under. We would hate for someone to end their festival weekend early when it collapses.

  • Friday night group kitchen in back of pavilion is open for anyone after 6pm

  • Sat night Pasta Dinner with Potluck Appetizer/Salads/Deserts will be served 6:30 until 8:00

  • Also, bring your favorite vegetables to grill out and add to the pasta dinner Saturday night.

  • Lunch during the weekend is up to each person!

  • The Stokesville Market 1/4 mile away has an amazing selection of craft beer, well stocked snacks, ice and staple items. Great post ride stop!

  • Campfire starts at 9pm Friday and Saturday and 9:30 on Sunday. Bring a chair and some s’more makings!

  • Please do not exit the campground via the one land road you used to enter from the Iron Bridge. Please exit using the exit road towards the lake.

  • We do ask that once the weekend of fun is over, that you please pick up any trash around your campsite. Just like the National Forest, “Leave no Trace”.
