The Tenth Annual Leesburg Bakers Dozen
A 13 hour Mountain Bike Extravaganza
https://www.bikereg.com/leesburg-bakers-dozen-2016
Event description: The Tenth Annual Leesburg Bakers Dozen is a 13+ hour Mountain Bike Race starting at 9:00am April 9, 2016. The event will be held on a private farm overlooking the Potomac River 3.5 miles north of Leesburg Virginia. This event has been designed to be fun for all racers, family and spectators. Timing will be provided by Precision Race, http://www.precisionrace.com/
Race Caps: We will again be capping the number of registrants for the race. This year, there will be 500 slots available during general registration on a first come, first served basis.
Start Time: We will again be starting at 9:00 am this year. This should allow us to have racers off course by 11:00pm or so. One of our main goals is to provide a fun and inclusive atmosphere, and this includes the post race festivities. We love having the Bluegrass and Bonfires, and want to have more time to hang out with you, the racers, after the "serious" stuff is done with. We feel this earlier start time will allow this and provide more opportunity for camaraderie and to hear your stories from the days events.
Geezer Category definitions: In order to qualify for these categories, a 2 Person Male Geezer team MUST have a combined age of at least 80 years, and a 3 Person Male Geezer team MUST have a combined age of 120 years. Birthdays will be requested during the registration process and will be checked at registration/packet pickup.
COED Category definitions: These categories are designated Coed Teams and must consist of at least 1 female, but can include all female teams as well. Any teams registered in these categories that consist of all males will be transferred to the corresponding Male categories.
We have expanded the category options this year, but we may combine categories with less than five racers or teams registered.
Course description: The 2016 course will be run in reverse of the 2015 course. The course is made up of rolling hills with plenty of semi-technical challenge in the form of rocks, roots, log piles, and small ledges. This is a fast course, but has been designed to accomodate all skill levels, from Beginner to Expert.
Pre–Riding: In addition to the Friday before the race, there will be at least one pre-ride opportunity prior to race weekend which will be announced at a later date, and hopefully scheduled around agreeable weather conditions. All participants will be asked to sign a liability waiver prior to prerides.
